| Nauru, Smallest and Fattest Country in the World |
The Republic of Nauru is both the smallest and fattest independent country in the world. This potato-shaped island nation has a total land area of 8.1 square miles. By car, one can circle
the whole country in less than 20 minutes. With an estimated population of less than 10,000 in 2010, 95% are overweight and 85% of men are considered clinically obese. This is due to the fatty and processed food that was imported to the country that started when the standard of living began to take off due to mining and importing of phosphate that began in the early 1900′s.
